I was raised in southern Georgia, and I grew up with the soil in my hands and a love of my southern heritage, the southern way of life, the perfume of southern trees and flowers in my heart.  At first, I painted off and on in secret, afraid to call myself an artist.  In 2005, after marrying a man with artistic talent, passion, and deep southern roots similar to my own, we both began sharing our art.  Dr. Vincent Keesee taught me to take risks with the paint brush, and artist, Annette Rigdon Swan, gave me the wine of encouragement. Although at times I paint in acrylics, my hands always reach for my favorite, oils.  I don't have any particular style.  At times, a painting calls for thick, undiluted paints; others call for layers of thin paints, glazes.  I love thick, rich oil paints as seen in my sunflowers.  And I enjoy experimenting, at times painting the same scene over and over while changing the seasons----spring, summer, fall, winter.  Eventually, I find the scene that I've been searching for.  I'm not an artist who simply sits down and paints.  I explore.  I make mistakes.  But I love the end product.  For commissions, I usually ad what I feel is a touch of magic to the scene.  Magic that can't be found in most photos.  Magic that comes from living, breathing, inhaling the scents and sights of this beautiful world.  I guess I'm passionate.

We see more than what is available to the naked eye when we look deeply at the books we read, the art we buy, the paintings we paint, and the friends we keep close.  We reveal our secrets through our art.  I hope you find a few secrets in my work.
