Leslie Hoops-Wallace,Texas born girl, drawing horses on everything, including school papers. Enrolled in the College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland California, father was transferred to Calif. in her junior year in High School. In her first semester she heard about the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and its Illustration program. Their program seemed more exciting than teaching, so she changed majors and schools. Leslie finished with a BFA in Illustration. She co owned an art and stained glass studio, “Girard Studios” in Antioch until her marriage failed, she then moved back to Texas. In San Antonio she worked as a Vets assistant, and receptionist until her new husband was transferred to Okinawa, Japan a two-year vacation in paradise. Leslie quit painting except for the occasional pet portrait, she was enjoying being mom and wife. The Family then moved to Georgia, and she picked up her brushes again. Painting “American Chaos” after 9-11,original was given to President Bush when he was in Perry, Ga. Leslie was back to illustrating. Leslie lives near the Museum of Aviation, and works at the Arts and Crafts Center on Robins AFB. Painting the occasional aviation painting, a change from the furry side. Leslie is president of the Fine Art Society of Middle Georgia, and has been an Artist in Residence at the Georgia National Fair. She is open to any animal related illustrations, wildlife paintings and animal portraits. Please contact her for any commissions!
